The Republic of Moldova is the smallest CIS state (Commonwealth of Independent States) which lies in the central part of Europe and occupies an area of 33 700 km². Its geographical position between two big neighbours Ukraine and Romania (and thus European Union) makes it a bridge between West and East markets.
